PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
i. Developing and managing a more systematic and organized interaction between the FBI and the general community to accurately utilising academics' skills and abilities in various fields such as English language education, motivation, and leadership.
ii. Enhancing the quality and professionalism of FBI's academic staff in contributing to community development (in this case, Form 5 students from SMK Badang).
iii. Providing the opportunity to FBI academic staff to conduct the social research through CSR approaches.
iv. Exposing UMK and the academics to social work in conducting workshops, seminars, and talks to the outside community.
TARGET GROUP AND ATTENDANCE
The target group was SMK Badang Form 5 students who would sit the SPM examination in 2020, and they were divided into 2 groups for 2 visit sessions, namely Session 1 on September 17, 2020 and Session 2 on September 24, 2020. The total attendance for both sessions was 104.
ACTIVITIES / PROGRAMMES JOURNEY
Session 1 (17/9/20) Thursday (Main Hall of SMK Badang)
i. Session 1 began at 11 a.m. with a briefing from the Programme Coordinator, Mr. Nik Aliff, and then continued with allocating the 68 students into six groups led by Mr. Arifudin, Mr. Nik Alif, Mr. Ramizan, Mrs. Shazrina, Mrs. Rosdalila, Mrs. Aadilah, and Mrs. Alia. Others were Dr. Suhaida and Mrs. Liyana. And Mrs. Noraziah, an English teacher at SMK Badang.
ii. Session 1 activities at SMK Badang included impromptu speeches, ABC games, and paragraph writing.
Session 2 (24/9/20) Thursday (Main Hall of SMK Badang)
i. The activity began with Balloon Toss in which students must follow the instructions written on the balloon that is tossed into the air.
ii. Jumble Trouble and Hunt & Arrange were two of the activities performed. Students appeared to be quite active and diligent because the tasks required them to move in and out of the hall. The facilitators also provided more detailed explanation to help the students understand and follow the tasks successfully.
CONCLUSION
This CSR programme should be continued and expanded to rural areas for the benefit of the underprivileged, and more academics should be involved to develop their personal development and social skills.
The school has also requested that the FBI provide seminars for target students, with a potential increased emphasis on writing in preparation for the upcoming SPM examination.
