This program succeeded in achieving the targeted objectives because UMK has sent a team consisting of 21 students from various faculties to represent UMK. The team competed against students from 14 public higher education institutions from across Malaysia. They have also been able to showcase their talents in the competitions organized. TikTok Duet This Challenge, Ethnic Rhythmic Melody, ELCA Reviews, DIY Tutorials, ELCA Virtual Roleplay, and LinkedIn ELCA World were among the activities.
The HE ELCA 2021 programme was aimed at students who achieve Bands 1,2, and 3 in MUET in all public HEIs around the country. In this national competition, UMK was represented by 11 students who obtained band 2 and 10 students who obtained band 3. This year's event marked the first time that UMK has submitted the maximum number of entries for the Ministry of Higher Education's second annual programme.
On November 1, 2021, enrolled participants were given the opportunity to upload video recordings of the activities they took part in. Cutoff date for entries submission was on November 29, 2021, to give the jury time and space to analyse all of the videos that had been submitted by the contestants. From November 20 until December 13, 2021, the judging procedure was conducted. Ybrs Associate Prof. Dr. Wan Zuhainis binti Saad, Director of Academic Excellence Division, Department of Higher Education, MOHE, officiated the opening ceremony of HE ELCA 2021 on 14 December. The competition videos that were submitted by the participants for all categories were then televised. This broadcast runs for 3 days until December 16th. HE ELCA 2021 was officially closed with the announcement of the winners of the competition for the all the activities that have been carried out. Participants from UMK were able to receive more exposure and experience in using English in a more relevant and pleasurable way as a result of this programme. They also have the opportunity to communicate with students from other public HEIs and learn how to prepare videos for the activities in which they participated. It is also used as a forum to introduce the names of UMK and FBI to public higher education institutions in Malaysia.
