The goals of this session were successfully met. YBrs. Prof. Zuraidah Mohd Don has been invited to this workshop to share her expertise in Applied Linguistics. Prof. Zuraidah Mohd Don has built a broad academic profile that enables the institution (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia) to carry out its 'third mission' to the local community, notably in the field of early education. All academics and language instructors in the Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development were invited to attend this session. YBrs Prof. Zuraidah Mohd Don began the session by explaining what Qualitative Research in Applied Linguistics entails, as opposed to just gathering research data. She thoroughly discussed and presented tips and tricks for doing qualitative research in Applied Linguistics, as well as criticisms and ideas for improvement in qualitative research. This sharing session exposed participants to qualitative research methodologies in Applied Linguistics, allowing them to be more successful and efficient in the field. This programme drew lecturers from USK and JPI, as well as language teachers from the English Language Unit and Third Language Unit. This session gave the participants extra exposure and understanding of qualitative research approaches in Applied Linguistics. This program will surely enable researchers to become more confident in producing comprehensive studies by utilising qualitative research methodologies. YBrs. Prof Zuraidah also offered words of encouragement to students who are now or have recently begun their Ph.D. studies, as well as advice for researchers on how to succeed in grant applications.
