PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: ‘ACADEMIC PATHWAYS: FROM POLICY USER TO POLICY MAKER’

This programme met its objectives, with the speaker discussing and sharing her experiences being a part of Malaysian ‘policy maker’. This workshop targeted academics and language teachers at the Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development (FBI) who are currently 'policy users' and may become a 'policy maker' in the future. YBrs. Prof. shared in detail her important expertise in successfully overcoming the twists and turns and obstacles of the academic world to achieve success in this field. YBrs. Prof. then provided a wealth of information and advise on how to be a good educator and offer significance to one's own life as well as the society. This programme was successful in providing participants with critical knowledge and understanding about their goals as educators who have a significant role to play as the "agents of change" in the national education system. There were many useful and important inputs obtained from this workshop in preparation for becoming a more competent educator, from ‘policy users’ educators to ‘policy makers’ educators.
