WORKSHOP ON CEFR DESCRIPTORS MAPPING TO LEARNING OUTCOMES

Date: 30/ 06 /2021

Venue: Via Google Meet

Organised by Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development (FBI), UMK

The goal of this workshop was to discuss the Course Outline for English language courses at UMK, and it was successfully accomplished. This session was targeted for language subjects that have or will utilised the CEFR as a teaching guideline. The number of target groups determines staff attendance. The workshop started with a welcoming and introductory speech of YBrs. Prof. Zuraidah Binti Mat Don by the Assistant Director of the Programme, Mrs Liyana Ahmad Afip. The guest speaker shared her thoughts on the usage of course codes and CEFR level variations for each course in order to align course content, methodologies, and evaluation indicators with the offers at each level (low to high CEFR).

This workshop was successful in providing a larger and deeper understanding of the CEFR framework's implementation in the language curriculum at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, in line with the faculty's direction of offering language courses using the same framework for all languages. This training provided a wealth of valuable and critical knowledge in preparation for designing CLO construction, implementation methodologies, and course evaluation.
